I am thinking of subscribing to this site: https://www.osmo.supply. I am curious if some of you can check it out and let me know if the resources and embed codes on the site will be compatible with Sitely, as a way to make any sites I create really pop — or if any of you all have ever used any of the resources on the site to give me an opinion of it is worth subscribing to. Thank you!
Osmo looks really neat! Some really great animation and transitions!
There are a number of those transitions I saw you can natively create in Sitely with a bit of patience. There are others for now which are not possible in Sitely, but like you asked Sitely is very much able to use the codes in an Embed element.
I saw some animation which was video but on page scroll would animate. Sitely can also achieve that by using Lottie or Rive animation files.
Just to add that Sitely does have the option of playing video as the page scrolls, which gives it an animated effect. You just have to check the box that says Play While Scrolling - It’s something I like to use to add a little movement without using special file formats, or having to use the animation options in Sitely.
In response to the original question, there are many ways to use code snippets to achieve a wide range of effects. A useful resource for this is ChatGPT: if you can clearly describe what you want to accomplish, it can generate starter code for you.
Of course, this approach can somewhat bypass the purpose of using a tool like Sitely, but there comes a point when many users want to move forward by incorporating custom elements. The main limitation of using code, however, is that it isn’t fully WYSIWYG. You may need to manually add content such as images or videos into your website.
For instance, if a piece of code references a specific image or video, that content won’t automatically import into your Sitely project. You’ll need to insert the correct URL into the code and ensure that the file exists in the specified location on your web server.
