My problem: if I make a navigation inside the homepage… every “single word link” works fine. If a link has more then one word, i get 2 links (leading to the same side, but looks awful)… what to do?
I’m not entirely sure how you created the navigation element, but it appears to be a popup rather than a standard drop-down menu. If it were a drop-down menu, this issue wouldn’t occur, so I’ll assume it is indeed a popup. In that case, it looks as though you’ve applied the hyperlink to each individual word. Instead, you should select the entire phrase before applying the link (for example, “Go to page in this site” or whatever the destination is). This ensures the spaces between the words become part of a single, continuous hyperlink.
A more polished approach for this kind of navigation is to use buttons. Create a button with a transparent background for both the normal and hover states, and then change only the text colour on hover. I usually take this a step further by adding a 2px bottom border. In the normal state the border is transparent; in the hover state it becomes coloured. This gives users a clear visual cue as they move over each button. The “Upcoming Events” link in the example below shows how this looks on hover.
Using buttons also helps with even spacing and can save you time. Create and style one button, then duplicate it as many times as you need. You can use Sitely’s alignment tools to distribute them evenly down the page. After that, simply update the button labels and set the correct hyperlink for each one. You could also group the buttons and then copy and paste the whole group to other popup menus you may wish to add to your site.
Yes, its made as a popup… but i gave my hyperlink to the full phrase… not only 2times a single word… it occurs when you change something in that line (even a singlie “a” to an “o”)… then sitely change the link to 2 links… can only be repaired by deleting the full line and write it new…
The Buttons are not my prefered working style… its to delicated in different screen options… they are moving…
I think editing the text after a link has been created will break the link, so you have to reapply the link to the whole line of text again. If you don’t, the system seems to retain the link on the unedited parts of the text, effectively creating two links separated by your edit.
reapply just over the 2 words will not work… deleting it, write it new and the apply over the full link… the only way it worked for me
Overall @Birdy this should not be happening.
I have many a times corrected a chain of words as one hyper link, and making spelling corrections to it as an active link does not break up the linking how it is doing it for you.
I’d recommend having @duncan take a quick look to make sure it is not a bug. Send your project file explaining the situation to feedback@sitely.app
the side is nearly 1 GB… and I found a working “Work-a-round”
That’s a good size! You could copy 1 page with the buggy behaviour and send that?
at the moment there is no buggy behaviour anymore… post is 12 days old ;-)…all repaired… if i change some sites and there will be a new problem, i can do that.
