The biggest website I've built with Sitely

For a little over 7 years, I’ve been working with Sitely (pre-Sparkle), always with the goal of delivering landing pages as quickly as possible.

This website took me a bit longer—not months, of course, but several weeks with some back-and-forth adjustments. It’s been up and running for a couple of months now.

Your feedback is always welcome!

By the way, I noticed an issue when sharing the link—the preview image doesn’t appear. I’m not sure why it shows an error, since I placed the image in the correct spot inside Sitely.

I managed to make the website multilingual without duplicating it, simply by embedding the Google Translate widget.

Also, if you have a moment (or feel like it), I just finished this site: https://blacktech.mx Cheers to the power of Sitely and their awesome team!

Hi @soygrafico :wave:t2:

These are two great websites, well done! Here are a few small improvements I noticed for your site leeco.com.mx:
• Be careful with layer order: the WhatsApp logo sometimes ends up behind other elements on certain pages.
• The dark orange headings can be hard to read when there’s an image in the background.
• Some links leading to Notion pages might be confusing for users. I assume this is intended to let your client update certain content themselves, but switching entirely to a different site with no clear way to return might drive some visitors away.

Other than that, overall, it’s a solid job!

Wow, that is a fair bit of work @soygrafico, and well done!
Love how you integrated the Google Translator widget. It works well.

If I could just mention a couple of things…

  • I’m somewhat confused with the main navigation taking me away from the main website. For me this is a no no. The main navigation should always be to do with the website in finds itself on.
  • As Alan mentioned, the WhatsApp icon disappears now and again.

Keep up the good work!

Your website looks great! AND I am so glad to have found it and learned about the Google Translate feature! I have now installed it on several non-profit sites that I manage and it works great! See:

Here is the link to sign up for this:

Note: At this point, Google limits this to non-profits.

Thank again…so glad I saw your post!

Hello Dave,
Just had a look at your Google translated sites and i was very enthusiastic about it because in the first place, I see this for he first time inaction. I have no experience with Google translate.
Having a closer look I noticed that Google translate adds an extra header on your pages with a drop down possibility to select different languages. Is that a Google config setting or not. My feeling is with this extra heading added to your pages it looses a degree of professionally you did put into your site. Second notice is that when I translate it into a language with longer words (like Dutch) the text is running out of your predefined text box sizes. Let me know what you think.

Hey man! you take it to the next level!!! how did you do it to make It a button? its awesome how well implemented is. As a tip you should scan in all the webpage the text boxes in order to see if in another language is enough size because for me it happen that in Spanish had no problem but then in English the text was incomplete because the size of the boxes. So aside from a that a the issue that the SEO is missing in the language that Google will translate we will be ok with this approach.

Thanks for getting in contact. Its very good to have an active community that supports and help each other in a so noise digital space.

HI Sierd! First, we are big fans of your country! In many ways, it is so far advanced over the USA, in technology, and in agriculture, where it ranks #2 in the world in exports! Amazing with such a small country! But it’s due to the very efficient growing methods you use there. The USA has so much land, that we’ve not felt the need for such methods, even if they are “greener” and better for the environment.

We have friends who live in Hilversum and visit us every year on Cape Cod, Massachusetts.

Now about this translation issue. Yes, it adds a header to the site but I feel it’s a small price to pay for the convenience and utility you gain.
Yes, I did notice that some of the translation did not fit in my text boxes; I had to enlarge the boxes to allow for the words to fit. Depending on how many words you have in a text box, it could create some wider spaces between those boxes when viewed in the original language. So…this translation solution is not “one size fits all”, I guess  But again, it’s a compromise worth living with, in my opinion, for. what you get out of it!

Pass the poffertjes, please!
Dave

Hey Flamin! thanks for always check my webpages  im interested in your thoughts about how you can approach to solve this issue:
The client wanna have a way of update his jobs opportunity and offers of products. And since we don’t have a CMS kind of solution I thought that maybe using Wordpress… but then I try it and it was a full disaster because of the plugins and the limitations that comes with it. (I know a lot of people like it but… im completely against that approach of the web construction since early days) but anyways than I remember how good is notion and how powerful it is so I think:
Maybe I could add it to the webpage as links and teach the client how to use it to very easy update this pages. And that’s what I did.

With your comments maybe I was thinking that it could appear some notification like "you’re about to leave this website but don’t worry you still under the umbrella of “clients name”… or something like that…

I don’t know. The other thing that I was trying to do is to get into a sheets document with Google Workspace and give the client that access and then embed the document into the webpage and try to automatically update… but also was a disaster haha.

Anyway. I tried my best to get a solution.

The other point that I see you and another dude was the WhatsApp icon that disappears (what I was trying to do is like in the footer you have that info my thinking was “we dont need repetition of the number” ) hehe so that’s why I thought with this approach.

Take care Flamin and thanks again for getting in touch.

Suggest to the client to put you on a retainer, monthly fee, so you can do the updates for him.
Or pay you by the update. Tell him that this way, the updates will maintain the look of the site which you worked so hard to please him!
The other way might be to embed a Google Calendar…as long as his info is not too large. Anyone can update listings on that using their phone and the Google Calendar app.

Hello everyone,

You also have the option to embed Notion pages directly into your site. In the publishing menu, Notion allows integration into a website using an iframe :+1:t2:
