Accordion and white space at the bottom

Hi everybody,

I followed the accordion tutorial (great work and REALLY helpful!!) with great attention and pleasure and subsequently created a list of dates for our seminars using the accordion effect. The button contains the date and the seminar title and the layout box contains all the details and content of the seminar. So far, everything seems to be fine and is looking really great.

However, the one problem that I am unable to solve is the footer. It is a group and set so that it moves with the end of the page and is visible on all pages. However, on the pages with the accordion (there are three in total), the page does not end with the footer, but there is a white space after the footer. The length of the white space corresponds to the area of all layout blocks when they are all visible at the same time.

Is there a way to prevent this white space? Otherwise this wonderful effect is somewhat pointless if one effect is abandoned in favour of another.

Thanks for helping out!

Thomas

Hi @ThomasCā€¦

Have you tried making your footer also a Layout Block and see if the same issue persists?
Also have you tried ā€œClip(ing)ā€ the content of the Layout Block you have your accordion in to see if that helps?

Hi @FlaminFig,

thank you so much for answering!

Yes, originally I created my footer as a Layout Block. The effect was (at least in the preview, I havenā€™t published the site yet) that the footer disappeared as soon as I ā€˜unveiledā€™ the first LB. So I got rid of the LB and kept the footer as a group. Problem solved.

Then I tried to deactivate the move with page bottom for the footer but with no success. The only effect was (as expected) that the other pages became longer.

Now, Clip(ing) the content of the Layout Block I have not tried. In truth, I do not know what exactly this means. Maybe a language deficit of mine. What do I have to do? Maybe you refer to the ā€œMaskieren sie die enthaltenen Elementeā€ (as my interface is German) meaning ā€œMask the contained elementsā€. This I have tried without any success.

Could you maybe let us see it in action?

Sure, I am going to publish the site and get back to you when ready.

Thanks!

Thomas

Hi @ThomasC, we also have some fixes in that area, so if you want to send us the project file (swisstransfer.com to feedback@sparkleapp.com) we can take a look.

Hi @duncan ! Yes, thanks for that. I just send you the file in an email as it is only 12,3MB.

Thanks again to @duncan for finding the solution! And thanks to @FlaminFig for willing to look into it!

The problem lied in a parallax effect I created in my header that was growing and causing it to push down the page bottom.

Problem solved.

That is great news @ThomasC !
So you now know first-hand about Clip(ing). It also caught me out not so long ago & Duncan came to the rescue!!!

Yea, that in fact is excellent news as I started to loose faith (in me that is, not in Sparkle!).

So, that is Clip(ing)? Good to know. ā€œDuncan came to the rescueā€ is probably one of the most common phrases on this panel. :grinning:

This might have something to do with ā€œIDā€ of layoutblocks. These must be different - otherwise that happens what you may have encountered.

I had the same issue, btw. And Duncan gave me the hint of IDs to take care of.

Kind Regards,
Uwe

Hi @UweRausB!

Yeah, the Layout Block IDs are something to pay attention to. I think I covered this. As I mentioned, the problem was the parallax effect I created in my header that was growing and causing it to push down the page bottom.

Cheers,

Thomas
