Blanking text on a long page

One of the blog entries I’m bringing over to the new Sitely site is rather long with a lot of images an videos. the videos are all YouTube links.

I’d created the page and laid it all out OK, but when I then added some anchors so that I could have a subheadings menu at the top/bottom of the page, things went weird.

I’ve removed those anchors and the menus, but I still get this weird thing for that page where all of the text in the text block is blank until I click into it to edit.

This means that if I need to fine tune the position of an image or video, I have to guess, then click into the text field to see the result.

My other means to work around this was to place a browser on the left, and Sitely on the right so I was basically using the live preview to check that the edits worked.

I was wondering if the page is just too long (the original can be seen at: http://www.pkclsoft.com/wp/and-now-for-something-different/) and that Sitely is running out of memory, but it’s only using ~450meg.

a short video to demonstrate

for whatever reason, there was some blank space at the bottom of the text block. Resizing the text block so that it fits nicely without all the blank space fixed the problem.

:man_shrugging:

There’s a limit in the canvas of about 40.000 pixels vertically, probably due to earlier hardware limitation, we’ll review if that can be lifted now. Anyway the workaround is to break the text box in two or more.

ahh. that makes sense, and explains why the tweak fixed it. no problems. thanks.
