Block list of blog articles on the site’s intro page

Hello everyone,

Here is my website: https://albiminifig.fr. I would like to add a block on the homepage that links to the latest articles published on the site, similar to what you might find on a news website. However, I can’t seem to figure out how to set this up.

Would anyone have some time and the kindness to guide me and teach me how to do it?

Thank you very much.

Bonjour @Olivier et bienvenue dans la communauté !

To display recent news on your homepage, you have two options:

1. Manage news manually

This method involves writing your news as standard pages or popups and manually updating a news block on your homepage. Each news entry must be linked manually to its corresponding article. This approach works well if you have only a few updates to make, but it can become tedious if you frequently publish new content.

2. Use the blog system (recommended)

Sitely’s built-in blog can be used to automate the display of news. Here’s how to proceed:

  1. Create a blog in Sitely, where each news update will be a new blog article page.

  2. Set the blog index page as your homepage. This is necessary to integrate the “widget” that automatically lists the latest articles on your homepage. However, you can still customize this page like any other, so you can recreate your homepage layout. To speed up the process, consider copying and pasting elements from your existing homepage.

  3. Customize the display of recent articles by editing the summaries of each article in the blog settings.

Here’s an example of a possible layout with customized summaries:

The customization of summaries is nearly limitless: you can add dates, images, text excerpts, and arrange them as needed to structure your news display.

Tip : To maintain a consistent layout, instead of recreating each summary from scratch, duplicate an existing article and simply edit its content!

Feel free to check out the documentation on blogs:

Thank you very much. I’ll do my best with the current features, but they feel a bit limited for what I’m hoping to achieve. It’s unfortunate that there’s no option to integrate the indexes of other blogs into a page via a block. The feature is great, but a bit restricted. I’m not sure how complex it would be to implement, but if it’s something that could be considered in a future update, it would be greatly appreciated.

That would be a GREAT IDEA!
Have a Block Layout blog summary widget actively talking to the Blog Post pages and having the choice of how many you want to show on the home page, or any other page besides the blog post pages.

It is common nowadays to have a blog post summary on the home/landing page!

It’s true that adding a blog summary directly as a widget within a page, in the same way as adding an image or a box, would be simpler and more intuitive !

If a developer happens to see this, would it be possible to include this feature in a future update? That would be really great. However, I’m not sure if it’s technically complex to implement.
