Been using Sitely for a long time and overall love it - but the primary site I’ve been working on for the last 5 years has an issue I can’t seem to reliably replicate or solve. On this portion of my site (inquiry) I have a bunch of gray buttons for accessing PDFs of lesson plans teachers have created. THey all work perfectly for me, but I get random reports with no rhyme or reason about them not working from people. Today I deleted every single button and created new ones, re-linking them and I’m still getting the issue. My first thought was a layering issue but outside of my menu-bar header, these are the top items on each inquiry hub page.
Anyone had similar problems and found a resolution?
This definitely looks like an issue that occurs when buttons are partially covered by another nearby element. Looking at your site on desktop and tablet, I can see that the buttons (not just the grey ones) only activate when hovering or tapping a very precise area of the buttons (some in the top half and some near the bottom half.
I would start by checking the elements nearby each button to see if they are touching or overlapping parts of the button. In some cases this can happen when an empty element, such as a text box, accidentally gets added to the page - you may not immediately see the element if it doesn’t contain any data, but you will see its borders when selecting. Maybe try dragging over a larger portion of the area surrounding each button to see what elements get selected. If you see something partially overlapping any buttons, that’s likely to be the cause - either delete the problem element or send it to the back of the page.
I would also suggest giving the buttons a little more height, especially on the mobile and tablet layouts. People with stubby fingers can sometimes miss the target if the button is too narrow. If you can find nothing wrong, maybe you can post the Sitely file so we can take a look. Just upload the project file to swisstransfer and post the download link in this thread.
