Contact form issues

Hi,

I’m struggling to get the contact form to work on my site. I’ve tried configuring it with and without SMTP server details, and with different SMTP servers.

The Thank you page displays (as a PHP) but the email never sends (or reaches any junk mail box). PHP is enabled for my site.

Just to ask… have you got the “form elements” linked to the send button?

Yes…Boxes all checked to link them.

(PS I’m with 123reg hosting via cPanel)

Have you tried the mail-tester check?

  • go to mail-tester.com
  • get an email address
  • set that email address in your “recipient” field
  • publish your site again
  • send a test contact form
  • go back to the mail-tester.com page and view the results (and share the link)

The test account never receives…
Does that mean a server issue? Any suggestions for the approach if so?

Does 123reg have specific rules for outgoing email?

The mail-tester test is most likely only going to work with “email via server”, not with a custom SMTP server (which would likely block an email it’s not the recipient of), did you test it like this?

Tested both ways…no receipt.

I’ve raised it with 123reg. Any other suggestions to try?

I find 123reg increasingly complicated to navigate and use and am very glad Sparkle makes everything otherwise very easy to manage!

I am having the same problem, and did all the same tests/configurations. I have a different web host and they have kindly been trying to figure it out also.

I read in the docs that we should make sure the Thank you page is set to PHP. I’m not sure I understand, but it the page filename auto added.php after the name. Maybe the docs are old and Sparkle updated to auto do it.

Has the OP found a solution?

Getting this same problem now myself. Everything seemed to be working before, but I 'UPGRADED??" my package with 123-reg, and now none of my contact forms work any more. Nothing changed with them, and all I did was upload the exact same site, to a different IP address, given to me by 123-reg. I’ve tried the test site, and the wee rowing boat keeps sailing along, but never catches any fish :laughing: any ideas?

This is a ridiculous situation. The number of posts on here, from people with the exact same problem, and there’s STILL no clear instructions on how to solve it. 123-reg has given information that should be entered into the various boxes - I’ve tried them all, other suggestions have been given on here and by PM, but STILL nothing works. If it worked before (which it DID) then something must have changed, and the ones who made the changes, should know what that change was and inform us how to overcome the problem. I am not asking for some complicated software to make my websites do wonderful things - I just simply want to be able to allow my customers to send me a message - there HAS to be an answer somewhere. Does anyone out there use a contact form and have a package with 123-REG, who can give any clues on what to do about this?

No solutions here. I eventually gave up. I’m almost certain it’s a 123reg issue. I’ve found their support horrendous - things that used to work but then stopped working and they either don’t understand the problem or try to tell me that it never worked. Do let me know if you get any further as I too would like a working form (and it’s not a Sitely issue)
