Hi Sitely users
I have a section on my website where registered members of my community can download free resources and discount coupons. I understand that anyone wanting to join would have to email me requesting to be added to the Member Group. I am a little confused as to what to do when I receive the email. How do I add the sender? Do I assign them a password? Does each member have an individual password? If so, do I need to record all the passwords in case they forget it and request a reminder?
Thank you for any guidance anyone can offer. I am loving Sitely. It’s brilliant! But I occasionally need help to navigate some of the advanced features. Fortunately, the Sitely user group is also brilliant - with some very talented, knowledgeable and generous members.
Cheers
Hi @Rainey, the limitation currently is that Sitely doesn’t have a server side user database that can be changed from the server itself, so all changes need to come from Sitely.
So when you receive an email from someone requesting to become a member, you add the new user in Sitely and send them the login information. The password protection section in Sitely does store usernames and passwords, so you don’t need to store them externally.
And don’t forget to publish again ![]()
Thanks Duncan. I struggled with how to add a member for a while, but I think I have figured it out. Now I just need to test and see if I’ve set everything up correctly.
Cheers for a great product! It makes creating nice websites soooo easy!
