They don’t. Per the blog post:

Older (as opposed to just old, or previous) license, is meant to signify a license for which a 50% discount is no longer available. The 50% off on the upgrade is meant to communicate that all upgrades have a 50% discount, not that there’s an additional 50% on the already existing 50% upgrade discount. Anyway, amended it to clarify.
