Over the last couple of days I’ve been carrying out some testing with Sitely’s new Version 6 software. This has generally gone well however Iv’e come across a potential issue with objects with embedded code. It could have something to do with the changes to the consent process for cookie’s.
On the home (index) page I have two objects with embedded code, one within a popup and the other on the main page within a layout block. If both objects are present, the code within the 2nd object doesn’t work. The only way I can get it to work is by deleting the embedded code within the first object. By not working, I mean the result is blank when viewed in a browser via a web server. Interesting, if you preview the page from within Sitely, both sets of embedded code work fine.
This page works fine under Version 5. I also have other pages where there is just a single object with embedded code and they also work fine.
Just wondering if anyone else has come across the same issue?
I haven’t updated my sites to Sitely 6 yet, so I haven’t been able to notice this issue on my end.
It’s possible that it’s related to the new privacy settings. Have you tried disabling the consent option (by selecting “Enable immediately”) for these two embeds to see if the problem persists?
Thanks for your reply Allan. Yes, setting “Activate Immediately” on the embedded content that causing a problem works but can only be a temporary fix. I’ve also tried moving the pop-up with embedded content around the page as it was over the embedded object that is causing a problem. That made no difference. As I say, this page works fine in V5.
In the embed settings, you should be able to check “Activate after consent.” If that option is greyed out, go to the site settings under “Privacy” and select “Allow unlocking.”
If that still doesn’t work, I recommend sending your project to Duncan at the following address: feedback@sitely.app. If the file is too large to send by email, you can use swisstransfer.com to share it with the same address (feedback@sitely.app).
