I’m having an issue with embedded content loading on preview. Currently running Sitely Pro 5.6.1 on Apple MacBook Pro M1/ Sequoia 15.1.1 and Safari 18.1.1.
I returned to work on a site I had created in Sparkle which was modified in September. I have an html link from my website that I’ve embedded into Sitely. When I tested it previously the content loads without any problems. This time around, it won’t load and I get an icon of a robot, a message that it’s checking the site connection security. On one try I got a connection error message, on another a captcha to prove I’m not a robot. I’ve looked into anything that may be preventing the page from loading, to no avail. The site does work on other browsers - Firefox and Chrome - without any issues. Does anyone have any suggestions why the preview site won’t load?
The captcha makes me think that the issue is more likely coming from your hosting provider rather than Safari itself. It’s possible that your hosting provider is blocking your connection, identifying you as a bot or spammer. This can happen if the site is accessed repeatedly in a short period of time.
If the issue only occurs with Safari, one question comes to mind: are you using iCloud Private Relay? This feature changes your browsing IP address on Safari, which could explain why this behavior is specific to this browser. If that’s the case, try disabling Private Relay and testing again.
Thank you for responding back. I did some poking around and it has to do with settings that were initiated with the recent upgrade to either Safari and/ or the OS. FileVault has settings within it to either block or allow incoming connections. I had to go in and give permission for Sitely to connect. I just checked the live preview again and it’s working.
