HD-Space for Sitely

Having Trouble with my HD-Space. So I searched the biggest user and Apple told me this:

what can I do?

I wonder if you go to Sitely / Settings and remove the Published Cache, if that would help?..

this will delete only about 2 GB

Those are document versions, stored by the system somewhere hidden. It’s not Sitely itself, it’s your project file, multiplied by how many backups the system kept of it.

So the location where it’s saved used to be a folder in the root of the system disk, in a folder named something like .Document-Revisions-V100, but this changed in some recent macOS version, so you can’t quite go in and delete that.

What you can potentially do is:

  • open your project
  • in the file menu open the “Revert To” sub-menu, and pick “Browse all versions”
  • the window will morph into the time machine style side-by-side, full screen comparison, which really is very glitchy and doesn’t work very well
  • you then navigate back to an old version of your project file
  • only at this point you move the mouse to the top of the screen, the menu bar will show
  • from this menu bar, which is distinct from the normal app menu, open the file menu
  • from that file menu pick “Revert To” again, and now you will find a “Delete this version”

A terrible, not very effective UI, that as far as I know is the only user-facing way to delete old versions of a project.

Found my own way with “CleanMyMac”. With the “Magnifying Glass” I found the hidden 600 GB Data and deletet it… no further problems…
