How people can follow my new blog?

Hi, where or how do I add a “follow” button to the new blog feature, similar to how conventional blogs prompt readers to follow them?

Gillian - looks like there were no replies to your question. I’ve got the same question for my web site. Did you ever figure it out or get help from the developers?

Hi Jim, no, I never did find that out. Am also not that happy with the solution to posting comments, I have downloaded something that permits people to comment but it is clumsy and I would like Sparkle to have this facility integrated into the app.

I’m not sure you can do a “follow” button but you can use the RSS Feed that you’ll find on the right hand panel when you are viewing one of your blog posts. To use the RSS Feed feature you will need to make sure you have refined your Index Summary / RSS Feed. You even have the option to have Sparkle generate you a QR Code that you can use on your advertising mediums - digital or analogue.

Then there are other options…

  • On the bottom of your blog post have a sign up form
  • Promote your blog on your social media channels
  • Give your Users the option to tick Subscribe to be added to receiving your blog posts
  • Make users aware about your blog on your email signature area

That would need a back-end database and Sparkle doesn’t do that for now.
Some of the third-party solutions you can Embed into Sparkle are clumsy but some work really well and have been around for many many years.

Hello @Gillian.

On my blog site, I chose one of the routes suggested by @FlaminFig - a request-to-subscribe page. In going down this path, keep in mind that you need to have a way for people to unsubscribe.
