I have a layout block on all pages. I’d like it disappear on one page only. Is there a way to do that? It’s on a Thank You page after sending an email from the site. It’s a block with a text element and a button (for sending an email) and seems ridiculous for that to appear after someone sends an email and gets to the thank you page.
the way to do that currently is to move all pages into sections. You create sections using the + button in the bottom left of the Sitely window, and you put pages in sections by dragging each page over the section name, in the left sidebar.
Then you change the “show on all pages” setting to become “show in all pages of this section”. So you’d put all pages in one section, except for that thank you page that you’d put in another section.
The site structure in terms of pages vs. sections is reflected automatically in all menus that have the “auto add pages” option enabled, which is the default settings, so before changing the page structure you should turn off the “auto add pages” option in your menus.
Well, I tried that. I simply want the "Click here to send email’ button to NOT appear on one page. So I moved that one page to its own section. And I selected this section only. But when I try to delete that button, it asks me ‘Delete from all pages’ or ‘Cancel’. Sigh.
If I understand correctly, you have isolated the thank you page in a section? You should do the opposite: place all the other pages of your site in a section and leave the thank you page outside of it.
This way, the element will remain visible on all pages within the section but will not appear on the thank you page.
deleting in Sitely is always actually deleting, not about removing from a single page or from a single device
the “show in all pages” setting applies to top level elements, so anything you want to show only in one section needs to follow the containing layout block
So with that in mind, and without seeing your project file, my guess is you need to do the following:
go to a page where you want the whole layout block to be visible
select the layout block
click “Show in all pages of this section”
now also copy that layout block
go to the single page in the other section
paste the layout block
delete the button
Now the layout blocks in the two sections will be different and you will need to carry over any change to their contents manually. But it should be what you want.
What did I do now? I was trying to make the menu bar readable on an iPhone, but when I switched back to desktop view, the menu bar is fatter. How do I get it back to the thinner one and still have it be readable in phone view?
