I have a large artwork section on my website with many images in the Image/Video grid. I would love for Sitely to be able to let me have a label for each one as a function of the grid, rather than having to create a text box for each and every image which is very time consuming. Thanks for your consideration!
A great idea! And even better also allow for a gradient (that we can preset colour-wise) over the image with the label towards the bottom.
I"ve been doing this manually with one of my clients that runs an auction house for a while now…
Image with gradient overlay and label…
Image on hover state…
In cases of images where the caption is hard to read, I simply use the option of a background color for the text, specifically the semi-transparent black that’s built into our app. This works great; no need to obscure the entire image.
@duncan, while we are on this grid topic, could we please have access to the Filter tools already available to individual non- grid images? Same for slideshow galleries, please? Available on an image by image basis within a grid or a slideshow gallery? Thanks in advance.
I may be misunderstanding, but I want to have captions underneath each image, not on the image itself. That is different from what you are doing, is it?
Ok whoops… I got excited!
Your post didn’t mention at the bottom of the grid placed images?
I do wonder how that would be possible placing a text box below an image within its own grid.
I would love that, too. It would make it easier if the text could stay with each image if images are deleted or moved around. For now, text boxes under each image work, but rearranging or adding in the middle requires quite a bit of work.
Nice website. It looks like you did a great job of captioning, however, on my site I have about 60 or 70 Images of artwork and the thought of making text boxes for each of them, positioning them, captioning, doing the same over for the mobile version, is enough to give me a headache at the thought of it
Yes, this is a tedious process and can go awry. I’ve never found a particularly good solution. Recreating the images with the text added to the bottom (or wherever suits you) works, also time consuming. Or an index of small images and details etc. Nothing particularly ideal.
Thank you for bringing this up, Brineflaker! With pleasure I support this wish. I also should be glad to have this opportunity of a connected text box under a photo for my photosite Berwers.org. Now I am using the “mouse-over” text possibility for photo-explaination, but a connected text under each photo is very welcome too!
