Is it possible to fix the position of a layout boxed its content? I am finding that the content on a page will move around even when I am not on it. I often find the menu has moved to the bottom of the page and it takes an age to get everything back where it should be.
Welcome onboard @MrsM
Yes it is possible to lock down elements by right clicking on the element and then selecting Lock.
It sounds like you are using Layout Blocks?
The strange thing is that I just tested it and after locking the Layout Block it still moves around so I’m not sure what is going on there? @duncan?
Yes, I tried that too but it didn’t seem to have any effect. I am wondering if you can only lock text blocks or images.
What does Lock do? I viewed all the videos, but don’t see anything on it. I’ve locked certain elements on my site that drift, both in the current device I’m working on and in other devices when I select “custom” for their layout, so I think I must be misunderstanding its purpose, or when I should be using it. Anyone? Also, when should I lock vs. group? Thanks
Hello
The “Lock” and “Group” functions have very distinct roles in Sitely:
• The Lock function: It prevents an element from being accidentally moved or modified while you’re working on your design. Once an element is locked, it cannot be moved or changed until it is unlocked. However, it’s important to note that layout blocks cannot be locked. This means that even if the elements inside a layout block are locked, the layout block itself can still be moved, taking the locked elements along with it.
• The Group function: It allows you to group several elements so they stay together and move or animate as a single block. This is particularly useful for sets of elements that you want to move or animate easily without having to adjust or reposition each element individually.
Hi. The reason I ask is that I have some elements not in layout blocks that are locked that have been shifting on the current and other devices.
This shouldn’t happen unless you modify the position of the layers in the layer list on the left. If you move a layer and drop it in a new location (for example, inside a layout block or a popup), it could cause the locked element to shift position.
I haven’t been drag/dropping layers inside layout blocks or popups. Odd.
Hello
If your issue persists, I recommend recording your screen and sending the video showing the problem to Duncan. Also, attach your Sitely project along with its password, if there is one.
You can send everything by email to feedback@sitely.app. If your project is too large to send via email, you can use swisstransfer.com to share it with the same address (feedback@sitely.app).
