MASONRY - Will we see a different layout of the photo gallery?

It’s nice to have a tool that makes it easier to insert photos. But will there be an option to insert photos in a different layout? I’m thinking of a 3x3 or 3x10 gallery. I also think (I dream of) a masonry system that arranges photos on its own depending on their size.

Is such a script for an image gallery difficult to make? Or maybe someone succeeded?

The image/video grid gives endless options for laying out a photo grid. It will even resize images to suit the chosen layout within the normal limits of resizing (fit and fill options). It can create simple image grids or more complex bento grids containing images of different sizes and aspect ratios. I recommend you check the Sitely documentation at Image/Video Grid | Sitely Documentation

I’m sure as time goes on the Image/Movie Grid will mature, but there is still a lot you can do with it as @Stephie mentioned.

Here is an example I created for my client. It isn’t a total wow, but it shows how the Image/Video Grid can be mixed up, but I agree… a masonry setting would be cool - Auction Gallery - Regular Auction

@FlaminFig How did you get the filenames on the grid? all copy/pasted textbox w/ smartfield?

Thank you for asking…
It has been trail and error, but I have now again updated it to make it even more efficient!

I have placed the file names on the images manually in the past - not fun!
I now have tweaked it so the filenames are automatically picked up through a Smartfield integrated into a gradient overlay Button.

When you have a Sitely Button selected you can insert a Smartfield in the right-hand panel. Once you have done so you then ask the Smartfield to use and display filenames.

So after I have placed the image I place the gradient Button with its Smartfield over it, and whalla… The filename appears.

I’m still fine-tuning it but it is a really good start!

thx. I am aware of the smartfield… but you do have to copy/paste the button into each grid cell, don’t you? there’s no way to “automate” this for a large section of images?
