I’m working on a client site and they’ve sent over an Adobe Fonts (Typekit) kit link to use for their brand fonts (Proxima Nova, Proxima Nova Wide, and Sentinel). Looking through the Font Panel, I only see options for Google Fonts, System Fonts, and uploading local font files under Custom Web Fonts.
Is there any built-in way to load an Adobe Fonts kit directly (like pasting a kit ID or the stylesheet link), similar to how some other builders handle it? Or is the workaround of adding the kit’s tag via Developer Options and then targeting the published HTML with custom CSS the only route right now?
Just want to make sure I’m not missing a simpler option before I go the manual workaround route. Thanks!
As far as I’m aware, there isn’t currently a direct Adobe Fonts/Typekit option in Sitely for entering a kit ID or stylesheet and having those fonts appear in the Font Panel.
One possible alternative is to download the fonts and convert them to webfont formats for use as Custom Web Fonts, but you need to check the client’s font licence first. An Adobe Fonts subscription doesn’t necessarily mean you’re allowed to take the font files, convert them and host them yourself. I’d confirm with the client that their licence specifically allows self-hosting the fonts before doing this.
I’m also not a great fan of having fonts served up by third-party services, particularly when the fonts are an important part of the client’s branding. If the fonts are critical to the brand identity, I’d suggest the client obtains a font licence that explicitly allows them to self-host the fonts as web fonts. They can then provide the appropriately licensed webfont files to you, which you can add to the project as Custom Web Fonts. This gives you more control and avoids making the site dependent on a third-party font service.
If they don’t have permission to self-host the fonts, the safer option is to use the Adobe Fonts kit through its supplied web embed code and apply the fonts via custom CSS.
Another option is to use similar, freely licensed fonts that can be downloaded and installed directly. For example, Montserrat or Poppins are good alternatives to Proxima Nova, while Libre Baskerville or Source Serif 4 can work well as alternatives to Sentinel. These can be used as Custom Web Fonts without relying on the Adobe Fonts service.
So I’d first check the client’s licensing. If the fonts are important to their branding, I’d recommend getting a licence that permits webfont self-hosting and having the client provide the licensed files. If self-hosting isn’t permitted, use the Adobe embed or choose suitable open-licensed alternatives.

Yeah, they are trying to save money it’s a nonprofit. But I agree on brand and fonts of course! I’ll ask if there license allows for downloading.
Also this is pretty standard for Adobe, and I don’t even think they offer a download version for their licensing, would be GREAT if Sitely had an easy way to connect the type kit.
