I got a big issue and it might be a simple thing but I am very scared I lost all my website. I am crossing my fingers, hopefully someone here will help me and find my HUGE problem as a simple one.
I have a time machine and for different reason I had to turn off my website. I had to reinstall as well Sitely. Before I make sure I aslo make a copy of my last version on an other disk anyhow I was safe with time machine.
I double check and it was there and safe.
When I tried to enter on it again, it was not my last version but the one I used to load from Sandvox to Sparkle. I found it weird but I was not worry since I had my time machine. But NOOOOOOOO I tried few of them and still my first load from a year ago…
So I ask my friend to use her computer and try it. Ouf… it was my last version so I ask her to keep my file on her computer in case and copied again the file on a disk in my side in case. But when I tried to open it again it was my first load from a year ago… I am desperate… Any idea what I should do???
The only thing I can think of is that you might have had your original file in version 4… You opened it in Sitely version 5 and you would have had to rename it? If you didn’t then your latest file could be under another name?
I also think you might be opening the wrong file, possibly an older version with the same name. What I suggest is renaming the file to something very distinct on your friend’s computer, then transferring it to your computer and opening the renamed file. That way, you can be sure you’re opening the correct one.
I TRIED BOTH 4 and 5 … this is very bizarre because I tried first and everything is fine but I soon as I close it and reopened this is all the time the last version. I tried to change the name as well and nope all the time after it is the old version anyhow I am taking and old back up on my tiem machine it changed as well all of them, on every day
What is the process of opening the file? Are you already in Sitely, then opening via File/Open or by double clicking on the Sitely file itself? If you look at File/Open Recent you might find a clue in there. If you select File/Move To, where is it showing where the file currently is?
thanks everyone… I finally was able to recover it after unloading Sitely, change the file name before opening the file and take off all information of my site name etc… I really think I resolve it by taking off my website link in the parameter… because I tried before to change the name and it wasn’t enough… thanks again
