I’m probably using incorrect terminology here, sorry, but I have a testimonial in a small frame on my home page. I want to cycle several testimonials - all displayed in that same location, but changing which one is displayed every minute or so.
Is this possible in Sitely?
If so, can someone please tell me how this might be achieved?
Yes it is possible @Rainey…
This is where Sitely’s Image Gallery comes into play.
First create yourself a transparent png file which you will use multiple times in your Image Gallery. Once you have an image in your Image Gallery you will notice you can Show Label… Once activated you can place text over your transparent png image.
Once you have placed your testimonials you can ask the Image Gallery to Transition (how long before a transition to the next image occurs) and Automatic Slideshow.
Hi again. Sorry to impose, but now that I am actually trying to follow your instructions, more questions has arisen.
I am assuming I add a separate transparent image to the gallery for each testimonial I want to display? I do see the Show Label checkbox in the Gallery dialog, but I’m a little confused exactly where to put my text and how to include multiple testimonials.
Also, is it possible to rotate images?
I see that you can add PDF files to the Gallery. Would this work for a small image comprising both picture and text, maybe?
Thank you so much for your patient help. I have worked a bit with other site creation tools, but only doing very simple stuff. Loving Sitely, but finding the learning curve a bit overwhelming.
Once you click on Show Label, a text box will appear over the png file. It isn’t that easy to make out but it is there. You then double click into the Label container to place you testimonial text over the transparent png image.
You do this for every individual image by going to the right hand panel and clicking on the next image and then again asking Sitely to Show Label for that image.
Yes you can rotate a Label by going to the right hand panel / Arrange / Rotation.
I wouldn’t recommend using images to create your testimonial text as they won’t be indexed by the search engine diluting your SEO.
It took me a while to figure this out. You are right. The text box is hard to see, especially with old eyes! But I finally got there. Thank you so much! I will make good use of this feature now that I know how. And thank you for the caution about images not being indexed by the search engine. I had not thought of that, but it’s a valid concern.
Your help is greatly appreciated.
