I compared features in Sitely 5 vs 6 and noticed “Switch language”. What is it and how does it work?
Hi @YaWb, switch language is used in conjunction with the (relatively shallow) language features in Sitely:
- in the site settings, general section, you set up multiple languages (i.e. english and german)
- after the above, at the bottom of the page settings you cross-connect the pages that are the same content but in different languages (i.e. your “About” page in english and the counterpart in german)
Now suppose you had all the pages of your website cross connected like that, you could go in each page and set a link from the english page to the german page, and viceversa, or you can use the “Switch language” on click action.
The “Switch” language would have to be added only once per language, then set to be visible in all pages in that language (presumably in a page group), and setting the on click action to switch language. When publishing the website, Sitely would know to generate the german about page from the english page, and viceversa.
