I’m running into a strange problem with my website that started yesterday, specifically with one of my layout grids.
Each cell in the grid displays a team member with a photo, their name, and their jersey number. The photo is at the top, with the number and name shown side by side underneath.
Until yesterday, everything worked perfectly. It didn’t matter which device I used or how large or small I made the browser window—the automatic scaling handled everything beautifully.
Yesterday I wanted to remove one of the grid cells from the published page and rearrange the remaining team members. I’ve done this many times before and never had any issues.
Since then, though, the automatic scaling has stopped working properly. The text (name and jersey number) is only in the correct position in a few cases. Most of the time it’s either far too low below the photo or it ends up overlapping the image. The same thing even happens in Sitely’s built-in preview when I select “All Devices.”
Does anyone have an idea what might have gone wrong?
I’d really appreciate any ideas or suggestions. And just to rule out the obvious: I also tried creating a completely new subpage with a brand-new grid as a test, but I’m seeing exactly the same problem there.
When I resize the window, this is what it looks like on my end, on different devices and no matter which browser I use (Safari, Chrome). The operating systems and browsers are all up to date on every device.
I’m not one of the expert minds on here Thorsten but I just checked with Firefox and Chrome and the site generally looks OK and the team page the same as my screen shot.. Your screen shots show the “error” remains consistent across each row of images. Either over the images in the row or well below. So a little baffling! Perhaps one of the more expert minds will see this convo soon. Alternatively perhaps Duncan may have a solution.
My Mac OS System is running OS 15.6.1 which is not the current OS…I wonder if that is an element here?
Did you get it resolved @tfinken?
I’ve had a look on different browsers and it looks like the issue is on your widest Device. Do you have this Device set to autoscale?
I think it would be best to reach out to @duncan at feedback@sitely.app explaining the situation…
Sorry for only getting back to you now—I’ve been away on business quite a bit lately.
Unfortunately, the problem is still there. My first attempt was to remove the Extra Wide Desktop device layout and then add it back again, but that didn’t make any difference.
After that, I had the idea to test an older version of my website that I hadn’t touched in weeks (or even months). Surprisingly, the exact same problem is there as well.
That makes me think the issue probably isn’t with my site after all, but with Sitely itself. Maybe something went wrong with the update to version 6.2.2.
I’ll go ahead and contact Duncan directly, as you suggested.
I’ll be happy to keep you posted if I find out anything or if there’s a solution.
