Video for iOS Live Photos

Hi, I am trying out the Live Photo feature of Sitely. Per the directions I exported unmodified original from Photos on the Mac and selected the appropriate photo and video (.mov).

This error pops up when I select the video: “The video file isn’t in a web-compatible format, please encode it as MP4 with H.264 codec”

I’ve tried QT and ffmpeg to convert it to MP4 H.264 codec and Sitely still spits out the same error.

How do I get this to work?

Thanks,
Ray

@AlongtheRay have you tried putting it through HandBrake? It does a really good job converting videos to online web standards.

Thanks for the tip - I tried Handbrake as well and still get the same error even though the MP4 is saved with 254 codec web version. Odd.

@AlongtheRay, it might be a bug then. I think it would be best to take this up with @duncan, and send across your project for Duncan to take a look at - feedback@sitely.app.

@duncan Might this be a bug? Let me know if you’d like me to send something in.

Thanks,

I’ve just stumbled on your qu’n AlongtheRay. Have you tried VLC ? This allows conversion to various formats.

See screen shots attached

I use Handbrake which does similar things but all the formats were not accepted by Sitely. Weird.

Thanks,

Ray

Sorry to be late to the party on this question, but I have seen this error pop up a number of times while using Sitely in the past, (not so much now). However, my experience has been that the video will still work despite the error message. It may have been an erroneous error trap caused by some small inconsistency in the file format. This is something that I haven’t experienced for some time, so the issue may have been fixed.
