Hi a project I’m working on for a media company have a requirement that a video they have had developed is played on the Home page when the site loads. The video has no sound but they want it to cover the full screen at launch. Is there a way to do this? And will the same method work for mobile versions also?
From what I understand, you want the video to cover the entire browser window on page load. This can be done by setting the video as the page background. Here are the settings to do that in Sitely. You’ll find the settings on the Page Tab on the right of the screen.
The mute and loop options should be checked, particularly the mute option if the video has a soundtrack. The fixed position option will keep the video as the browser background regardless of any other content you place on the page - so you can design a page of content as normal and it can be as long as required - the content will simply scroll over the video.
IMPORTANT: A background video fills the entire browser window, so you should avoid placing additional content beneath it. By default, the video is fixed in place and will not scroll. If you uncheck Fixed position, the video will scroll with any additional content you add to the page.
However, I find this option difficult to use effectively because the size of the visitor’s browser window affects how the content is positioned in relation to the video. For example, you might design the page so that the first section appears directly below the video, but on a visitor’s larger screen, that content could appear over the video near the bottom of the browser window.
Instead, I recommend placing your introductory content directly over the video. Use this space to tell visitors what your site is about and include an interactive element - such as a button or top navigation menu - that allows them to move from the video home page to the rest of the site.

I’m wondering if you were to use a Popup with the video across the Popup across the browser. You would have it kick in straight away on page load, and either allow the User to click to continue browsing or you have it set so when the video ends the Popup closes revealing the home page.
This would also work on mobile.
