Perhaps on Halloween. Trick or treat… 
Since fall is going to last until December 21st and knowing that Apple pushes any deadline until the very limit… I very much think we could expect Big Sur in December Hahahaha.
Hopefully it’ll be closer to the rumored November 17th Apple Silicon Mac Event.

Hopefully Sparkle will remain compatible with other older OS’s
It will be compatible with older macOS all the way back to 10.9:
