Hello all together,
I tried to show single pics and pic galleries’ description/name.
It never works. Only the „filename“ as a smart field is shown.
But no persons name ends with .jpg : (
How can I make it run? The smart field „description“ only shows N/A!
Can anybody help. Is there automatic function which I still haven’t found?
Thanks a lot and nice weekend!
Mathias
Hello
Unfortunately, it is not possible to remove the file extension (such as .jpg) when it is displayed in a smart field. Sitely does not currently offer this option.
However, if you would like to add a description or custom metadata to your images, you can do so using a tool like Photopea (an online alternative to Photoshop). That said, this method can be more time-consuming than simply entering the names or descriptions directly in Sitely. If you still wish to use smart fields for this, here’s how you can proceed:
-
Open the image in Photopea: Click on File > Open… and select your image.
-
Access the image information: Go to File > File Info… to open the metadata panel.
-
Add a description: In the Image Description field, enter the description or text you want to associate with the image.
-
Export the image with metadata: When finished, click on File > Export as and choose the format for your image (e.g., JPG or PNG). Make sure the option to include metadata during export is enabled.
Once the image is exported with metadata, Sitely should be able to read this metadata via the smart field.
There might be other services that could accomplish this more efficiently, but I’m not aware of any at the moment.
Hello Schlappoff,
there is an other, a bit easier possibility, but it still costs extra time.
In Apple Photos click on the photo and open the i-button on top and add text in the caption field there. That will appear in the smart field.
