We have 5 languages for sitely.app, and it’s painful and a lot of work.
Essentially it’s about duplicating the project, or duplicating the pages within the project, and translating the content, then adapting the layout. There isn’t a shortcut I’m afraid.
Thank you. I think having a copy in another language might be tedious later on when transferring every change made to the German site. Still, thank you very much. Maybe I’m overthinking it.
As someone passionate about cats (and animals in general), I find your work amazing. I’m also planning to create a website in the future dedicated to raising awareness about the well-being of cats and dogs.
Regarding translation, I recently faced the same challenge. I’m currently working on a site that I want to offer in multiple languages, but managing 4 or 5 separate projects for a single site seemed unmanageable. So, I explored a code-based approach and integrated PHP into my site, allowing me to display different text depending on the URL. Instead of entering my text directly into Sitely, I simply insert a small piece of code into each text area, and the server dynamically inserts the appropriate text based on the URL the visitor is using (e.g., /en = English, /fr = French). This method would allow me to manage a single project and a centralized file containing text in different languages. I’m still in the preliminary testing phase, but it seems to be working correctly so far. However, this could be quite challenging to set up if you’re not comfortable with programming…
I dream of seeing a native feature for managing multilingual websites in Sitely that could look something like this:

That would be a somewhat minor addition and is definitely something we could add. The major issue is text has different size depending on the language, so the layout needs to be reviewed. It’s something we have been experiencing first hand and working around for a long time. We do have ideas around all this, and it’s not the highest priority area, but we do try to put something in at every update.

Thank you for your reply, that’s excellent news! Indeed, the variation in text length depending on the language makes things more challenging. During my tests, I had to create 4 different menus to maintain the design’s aesthetics and consistency.
I’m looking forward to seeing this feature added to Sitely!
